Ducks - we were all very sad to lose our ducks to the stoat last Autumn and didnt want to replace them until the Spring. So in the next couple of weeks we will be clearing out the duck pen and do any repairs needed to their house ready for some new ducks. I will post pictures when they arrive and if you have any suggestions for names then please just let us know - the more unusual the better!

WOODLAND WALK NOW OPEN!

Already many of our guests have taken the opportunity to go out and about in our newly acquired 30+ acres. Well, it is right on the doorstep! So far they have spotted rabbits, partridges, pheasants, owls, birds of prey and of course the not so fantastic Mr Fox. We are delighted that people are making such good use of all this space - going for picnics, having barbecues, playing rounders, rolling down the hill and a brave few who have gone out at night to star gaze. With no artificial light around for miles you do get to see clear, twinkling stars. We welcome suggestions from everyone as to how we can make this an even better place so please do e mail us with your ideas or photos. So far there have been some stunning sunset views.

FUN DOESN'T NEED TO COST A FORTUNE!

There are lots of things to do for free around and about. Some tried and tested favourites for guests include:

* walking from Looe to Polperro on the Coastal Path. A really good walk taking about 2 and a quarter hours but not difficult even for smaller children. Some superb spots for picnics on the way. We walk this often and either get the boat or the bus back to Looe. Spectacular scenery and the sea always looks wonderful.

* crabbing off the quay at Looe. We have the buckets and the crab lines. Use old scraps as bait and you are off!

* Mount Edgecumbe country park - great views across to the sea side of Plymouth. Come in the Spring and see the National Camellia collection or visit in the Autumn and collect conkers. Last time we went we collected over 40 conkers!

* Bodmin Moor - take a kite and a picnic and you can be up here all day. Wonderful panoramic views across the Moors and the chance to see the famous Cheesewring and Hurlers close up. We provide the map so its easy to find.

*Colliford Lake - a haven for wildlife and a real treat for bird watchers. Now with a lakeside walk or cycle ride and new for this summer - High Ropes.
